“My future in the workforce was nonexistent.”

"I am so grateful that God put Robert (Watermark CDC staff team member) and my friend Austin (JCP Advocate) in my life. Before the Job Connection Program, I was in prison for over 30 something years. My future in the workforce was nonexistent. I asked God – I said, 'God I know you didn't bring me out of prison to do nothing.' I know I am a child of God. You have to hit God with his own word. I told him I am a child of God, and I accepted your Son Jesus into my heart, and I need a job. But I kept getting turned down by jobs.

Once I learned that God was in control of all things, I started to be still and listen. Don't trust in man because man will set you up to fail you.

At first, I was hesitant to join this program. I doubted. When nothing moves, I start doubting God. Faith and patience run parallel together. I believe he still got something else for me. I don't know what it is. I have to focus on what's ahead. Keep striving. I know he didn't just deliver me from that cell. I thank him every day for delivering me and accepting me as his son.

I see so much love in this building. I see so much caring. When you are blessed, keep your hands open and go bless someone else. This congregation has showed me love from the very first time I walked in here."
